PAOK confirmed their place in the quarter-finals of the Greek Cup after defeating Trikala 2:1 at the Toumba stadium in Tuesday’s second leg. The Thessalonikis had a comfortable 5:1 advantage from the first leg and simply played out the second leg to book their place in the final 8.

PAOK dominated play for most of the match, but fell on an in-form Apostolidis in the Trikala goal keeping the hosts at bay for an impressive 79 minutes. PAOK finally found the breakthrough when Prijovic took Biseswar’s pass and the Serbian striker made no mistake in front of an open net to give PAOK the 1:0 lead. However, in the first minute of stoppage time, Trikala equalized with an absolute beauty of a goal from Milosavljev, who curled his left-footed shot past Siampanis in the PAOK net.

The late goal was not enough for Trikala to leave Thessaloniki with a respectable draw as the hosts were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Prijovic stepped up and cooley put the ball into the back of the net to give PAOK the 2:1 victory and 7:2 win on aggregate.

PAOK will join Panionios in the Last 8 while Trikala, who were the only Football league side left in the competition (OFI was eliminated earlier today), bow out after a good campaign in the Cup.
