Requiring a victory to secure progression from Group F of the EuroCup Round of 16, Promitheas subsequently produced a confident performance in Germany, defeating Oldenburg 97-72. In the first quarter, the Patras outfit immediately took the initiative, winning the frame by 11 points to put Oldenburg on the back foot.

Playing with real confidence, Promitheas then went on to win all of the remaining three periods, calmly seeing the game out to emerge victorious. Promitheas claimed first place of Group F with a 4-2 record ahead of Venice, Brescia and Oldenburg.

The fact that Promitheas converted 15 of 32 three-point attempts was a major factor of their triumph.

Dimitris Agravanis, formerly of Olympiacos, took a leading role for Promitheas with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Langston Hall was the leading scorer with 20 points to his name.

The Greeks had never participated in the EuroCup in the past. The EuroCup is a second tier competition behind the EuroLeague.

Promitheas will now prepare to face Tofas Bursa of Turkey in the quarter-final stage. The best-of-three series will take place between March 17-25 with Promitheas holding home advantage:

Tofas Bursa earned second position of Group H.

In the Basket League, Promitheas are currently sat in fourth spot with a 12-7 record, trailing Peristeri, AEK and reigning champions Panathinaikos.
