Panionios are officially on a winning streak after their win over Gymnastikos, while PAOK are out of the top four in the standings with their defeat to Promitheas.
 
After starting the season in horrific fashion, Kymis started the second half of their campaign with their third win in four games thanks to an impressive 94-81 defeat of Lavrio. Gary McGhee steered Kymis to the shock win with 19 points on the night, as Lavrio couldn’t find the same form that took Panathinaikos to two overtimes just last weekend.
 
In Nea Smyrni, Panionios set a season-high two-game win streak with a 74-66 win over Gymnastikos. The Panthers, who started the second half of the season alone in last place, were led by Dejan Kravic’s 16 points, while solid defense in the final frame helped solidify the win for Panionios.
 
In Crete, the battle between the Basket League’s two southernmost sides saw Rethymno use the comforts of home court to their advantage in a blowout 89-61 win over Kolossos. Leading by eight points at halftime, the Cretan Kings added plenty of insurance early in the second half with a 22-9 run in the third frame. Stefan Moody was the standout performer for the Cretan with the American notching 18 points to lead all scorers.
 
Trikala proved to be no match for AEK as the Enosi cruised to an 82-71 win away from Athens, with Vassiis Kavvadas providing the spark with AEK with a near double-double (16 points, 9 rebounds). Sofoklis Schorstanitis didn’t feature for Trikala, who have now dropped 9 of their last 10 games.
 
In Saturday’s featured game, Promitheas made it a season sweep of PAOK with a 81-68 defeat of the Thessaloniki outfit at the Dimitris Tofalos Arena in Patras. Langston Hall struck for 22 points as Promitheas used a lopsided second quarter to leapfrog PAOK for fourth place in the league standings.
