The Serbian frontman led the line for both club and country where he scored a total of 33 goals in 2018, resulting in a career best for Prijovic. The Savvidis family must be applauded for their efforts to bring such a quality and lethal striker to Thessaloniki from Legia Warsaw for 1.9 million euros, as he was brought to the club to replace departing striker Stefanos Athanasiadis.

The addition of Prijovic has made PAOK a serious title contender over the past two seasons with his ability to score goals in important matches, including derbies. This season alone, he has got on the scoresheet against rivals, AEK Athens, Panathinaikos, and a crucial double against Aris in the Thessaloniki Derby, including a late winner to secure all three points for the current league leaders.

In 2018, Prijovic scored 33 goals in a total of 50 appearances across all competitions for both club and country, 32 of which were for PAOK. In the 2017/18 Greek Super League, he scored a total of 19 goals to become the top scorer in the league. He scored one goal when representing Serbia in the UEFA Nations League against Lithuania.

This calendar year, he played an important role in helping PAOK secure the Greek Cup for the second consecutive year and on the international level, he represented his country, Serbia, on the world’s biggest stage at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Without having a proper break following his involvement in the World Cup, Prijovic returned earlier than the club expected in order to resume his preparations for PAOK’s UEFA Champions League qualifiers, showing his hunger for further success and establishing himself as a leader within the PAOK dressing room. In the qualifiers, he netted two goals against FC Basel as PAOK made it to the final hurdle before the group stages, falling to Benfica on aggregate.

Earlier this year in February, Ivan Savvidis decided to extend Prijovic’s contract until the summer of 2022 after serious offers came from China to lure Prijovic away from Thessaloniki. Many clubs are still interested in signing the PAOK hitman, however the club has made it clear that he is not for sale.

Most recently on December 9th, Prijovic scored against Larissa in the league which brought his tally of goals scored for PAOK up to 50, in a total of 83 appearances. He become the fastest PAOK player to reach the 50-goal milestone in club history.

Prijovic will hope for a similar 2019 with one goal in mind, to win the Super League crown with PAOK, which will be the club’s first since 1985.
