Results from the Greek Cup third round

The majority of the favorites advanced to the fourth round of the Greek Cup. AGONAsport recaps the action from the third round, consisting of teams from the Gamma Ethniki and the Football League.

Egaleo came from behind to defeat Xenophon Krestena 1-2 and advance to the next round of the Greek Cup. The side from Athens fell behind but mustard a comeback with Petropoulos finding the winning goal in the second minute of stoppage time. The match was also stopped for 20 minutes due to fan violence. 

Both Ionikos and Veria cruised to the next round as they defeat Pandramaikos and Diagoras Rhodou 2-0 and 3-0, respectively. Kavala prevailed in extra time against Thinaliakos with Saragiannidis finding the breakthrough in the 93rd minute to give his side a 1-0 win.

Similar to Kavala, the Football League’s Aspropyrgos also advanced in extra time with the same scoreline over Elassona. From the Football League, Trikala defeated Episkopi 1-2 while Ialysos defeated Pellana 0-2. 

Ierapetra, who will compete in the Football League this season, were handed an early exit from the competition after falling 5-4 in penalties to Panthiraikos (0-0 in regular and extra time). Following in Panthiraikos’ footsteps were Panserraikos and Aetos Orfani who upset the Football League’s Triglia (2-0) and Thesprotos (2-1), respectively.

Fourth Round

The fourth round will include the winners from the third round plus the 12 teams from the Super League 2. The single-leg matches will take place on September 24-26.
