On Friday evening, Sheffield United unveiled the loan signing of Retsos:

“Greece defender Panos Retsos arrives at Bramall Lane from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen on an initial deal until the end of the season.”

“I think that the Premier League is the best championship in the world, so it’s a great honour to be here,” revealed Retsos when speaking to the English club. “However, it is also an honour to play for such an historic team like Sheffield United. I’m happy to wear the red and white colours again, my previous clubs Olympiacos and Bayer Leverkusen also played in red! Everyone dreams of playing in the Premier League.”

Retsos, 21, moved to Bayer Leverkusen from Olympiacos in the summer of 2017. However, while the gifted defender regularly showed flashes of his undoubted talent, he struggled with numerous injury problems and wasn’t able to hold down a place in the Leverkusen team this season. In the current campaign, Retsos only made a grand total of six appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions.

Sheffield United, currently sitting in eighth position of the Premier League, will have the option to sign Retsos on a permanent basis in the summer.

LAMPROPOULOS JOINS BOCHUM ON LOAN

Greek centre-back Vasilis Lampropoulos, a 2018 Super League champion with AEK, has now moved to Bochum in the Bundesliga 2 on loan from Deportivo:

“VfL Bochum found what they were looking for in order to strengthen their defence, signing Vasilis Lampropoulos. The Greek defender arrives on loan from Deportivo La Coruna until 30 June 2020.”

In the summer, Lampropoulos transferred to Deportivo as a free agent from AEK, subsequently playing in 17 La Liga 2 games for the Spanish outfit. Bochum occupy 14th place of the German second tier with 20 points on the board from 19 games.
