Vagiannidis, 18, currently plies his trade with Panathinaikos in the Super League. After featuring a couple of times on the bench for the senior side, the right-back, who can also play in right midfield, made his professional league bow in mid-February of this year. And, what a way to start, as the Athens born wonder-kid bagged a goal and an assist in seventeen first-half minutes.

Vagiannidis' rise to the first-team action came through his consistent performances for Panathinaikos’ U19 side. He’s turned out for them on thirty-nine occasions, all in the right-back slot, and he’s managed to net on six occasions which is impressive. He’s also been involved with the national set-up at multiple youth levels and made his debut for the Greece U19s in September of last year. With four caps and a goal to his name, many are excited about what the future holds.

It will come as no surprise, when you consider all the above, that Europe’s top clubs are circling as they look to secure his signature. At the time of writing, Vagiannidis’ contract which he penned in November of 2017, will expire on the 30th of this month. And, as it appears he’s decided it’s time to spread his wings and move to the next step in his career, clubs in England, France and Italy are all ready to act.

In terms of Premier League interest, Manchester City was leading the way, and they will have fancied their chances against the Greek outfits in the running. However, Monaco, another European giant threw their cap in the ring. But, according to reports, Inter have come on the scene. And they could have stolen a march on their rivals.

After solid offers from the likes of City and Monaco, which have subsequently had a knockback, Antonio Conte’s Inter have made their interest known and Vagiannidis is said to have his heart set on the move. However, up until now, a deal between the Italian outfit and Team Vagiannidis is yet to be struck.

Inter are said to have offered the eighteen-year-old a three-year contract which will start when his current deal with Panathinaikos expires at the end of the month. Their initial proposal will see the full-back pick up an annual salary of €300,000 a year, but it’s the finer details which are currently holding up progress. If Inter gets their man, and Vagiannidis gets his move, Conte will probably involve him with the first-team squad before loaning him out to gain more senior experience.
