Greece traveled to Belgrade for two friendly encounters against Montenegro and Serbia as they continue their preparations for the upcoming Eurobasket tournament. On Friday, Greece put together another convincing performance against a strong Montenegro side, defeating their opponents  83-81, with the Greek Freak making his first appearance for Greece this summer.

However, the Greek team’s momentum was quickly shut down by Serbia in Saturday’s friendly after the Galanolefki were handed a heavy 93-61 defeat. Kostas Missas will have much to improve in three weeks time when Eurobasket 2017 tips-off. Serbia, who is considered as one of the favorites to win the tournament (along with Greece), put together a tremendous performance against the Greeks, who were without their star Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

Greece showed many problems on the defensive end and were on an off night on the other end of the court. The Serbian lead increased to as many as 38 points (93-55) as Greece had 15 turnovers, only 12 team assists, 8/30 from 3PGS, and 19/54 from the field.

Greece’s next pre-Eurobasket test will be against Great Britain in London this weekend.
