Europe’s footballing governing body has selected Athens to host both the draw for the Champions League and Europa League group phases and the UEFA Awards Ceremony: “The choice of Greece by UEFA constitutes is a vote of confidence in our country, as this will be the first major event by the organisation after the measures taken to contain the coronavirus pandemic,” stated government spokesman Stelios Petsas. “A decisive factor was the conversation between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Aleksander Ceferin. The UEFA decision makes a crucial contribution in the global promotion of Greece as a modern and safe country which is capable of hosting events of such level.”

The ceremony is due to be staged at the National Opera House.

AEK, Aris, OFI, Olympiacos and PAOK will represent Greece in UEFA tournaments next season.
