It was yet another milestone evening for Giannis Antetokounmpo on Sunday as the Milwaukee Bucks star notched a career-high 52 points in a 130-125 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Smashing his previous career-high of 44 points, Antetokounmpo eclipsed the 50-point mark for the first time in his career while also finishing with 16 rebounds and assists.
Antetokounmpo’s double-double performance also put the 24-year-old in illustrious company as he joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players in Bucks history to record a 50-point/15-rebound game.
Meanwhile, with his fifth rebound of the night, Antetokounmpo passed Terry Cummings for fifth on the Bucks all-time rebounds list with 3759 rebounds. Adding a further 11 boards before the end of the night, Antetokounmpo now sits with a career total of 3780 – just 30 behind Andrew Bogut for third all-time.
In a game with a playoff-type atmosphere at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, the Bucks slipped to their first home loss since 9 February though they still own the best record (52-18) in the entire NBA. Milwaukee returns to action on Tuesday night when LeBron James and the struggling Los Angeles Lakers visit the Fiserv Forum.
