AEK and PAOK top the Greek Super League standings heading into Matchday 12 play. Olympiacos and Atromitos are a point behind the Dikefaloi at the top. This weekend, PAOK and Atromitos undoubtedly have the most difficult tests of the top four sides.

On Sunday, PAOK make the trip to Nea Smyrni to take on Panionios. Michalis Grigoriou’s team have faltered in recent weeks after a quick start, but are still a respectable 6th in the table. PAOK are coming off a big comeback win over Atromitos and will look to enter December still atop the leaderboard with a victory.

A day earlier, Atromitos welcomes Panathinaikos to Peristeri. Damir Canadi’s men lost for the first time all season in the defeat to PAOK at Toumba last Monday. They will look to take advantage of a Panathinaikos team that has had some major away woes this season.

AEK feature in the Monday night match and have, on paper, the most straightforward fixture of the top four teams this weekend as they host bottom club Platanias at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. AEK have only won twice in their last six league matches so it is of vital importance they take the three points in this on.

Olympiacos have a slightly more difficult looking task as they get set to travel to Kerkyra. Eliminated from Europe this week, Takis Lemonis must now ensure his players get refocused on the domestic front once again. Kerkyra have only won twice this season, but both of those wins have been at home where they traditionally gain most of their points.

The matchday kicks off with an interesting match-up early on Saturday as PAS Giannina hosts Xanthi. PAS are currently 9th in the standings, but could leapfrog 5th-placed Xanthi with a win at home.

Also on Saturday, the league’s promoted sides meet up as Lamia travel to Apollon Smirnis. Lamia, on 13 points, are currently three points better than their hosts at the weekend, but both sides, while having started the season decently, do appear to resigned to fighting against relegation.

Two more matches finish off the weekend slate. Asteras Tripolis hope to build on a win last week over Platanias when Levadiakos visit. Levadiakos have gone winless in their last three after starting the season undefeated for the first nine matches.

Finally, Larisa, winners of three of their last four travel to Agrinio to face off against Panetolikos. Larisa’s home form has been very good, but now they need to improve their away form and will be a tough ground this weekend.
