Sergio Araujo is the AEK hero once again. Within eight minutes of making his return at the Olympic Stadium the Argentine forward struck gold for the Enosis, firing a wonderful effort into the left corner beyond Sokratis Dioudis to defeat Panathinaikos 1-0. AEK, earning their maiden derby victory in two years, are now seven points clear of the Prasini.

Olympiacos required heroics of their own to defeat Atromitos on the road. Down to 10 men after Omar Elabdellaoui, matters didn’t look too bright for the Erythrolefki, however Egyptian forward Ahmed Hassan popped up with a last-gasp winner to gain three important points in Peristeri. For their part, reigning champions PAOK thrashed OFI 4-0 at the Toumba Stadium with a confident showing, however the Dikefalos tou Vorra do remain in second spot of the standings. Chuba Akpom (2), Lazaros Lamprou and Douglas Augusto all struck gold for PAOK.

In Tripoli, Aris lost more ground in their race for the top four, as they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Asteras. Initially, Fran Velez did give Aris the advantage, however Marc Fernandez promptly drew Asteras level. With 23 rounds in the books, Aris have 33 points on the board, four behind Panathinaikos as they aim to challenge for a place on the leading four positions.

Elsewhere, Panionios and Xanthi played to a goalless draw in Nea Smyrni, Lamia and AE Larissa had a similar fate, and Volos NFC grabbed a dramatic equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw at struggling Panetolikos.

Player of the Week: Chuba Akpom (PAOK)

The English-Nigerian forward is back among the goals. In truth, it’s been a rather difficult campaign for Akpom with Karol Swiderski starring for PAOK, however he made a statement of his intentions on Sunday, firing into the net after Diego Biseswar missed a penalty before converting a spot-kick of his own.

Goal of the Week: Sergio Araujo (AEK)

It really was a special goal at the OAKA. Receiving an intelligent pass from Marko Livaja, the 28-year-old shaped for a curling shot, subsequently beating Dioudis with a perfectly placed effort. A moment to remember for the popular Argentine.
