Olympiacos and PAOK, who are surely in a two-horse race for the Super League title couldn’t be seperated in Piraeus. Displaying excellent game management, PAOK took the lead in the first half as Sverrir Ingi Ingason poked the ball over the line at point blank range, and they were in control of the game until Mathieu Valbuena equalised from the penalty spot for Olympiacos. The two teams continue to lead the standings with 28 points each.

OFI are back on form. Before their game against AEK, the Cretans had conceded four successive defeats in the league, but they got back to winning ways on Saturday with a vital 1-0 triumph in Heraklion. In tight, tense encounter, one goal from Lisandro Semedo in the 52nd minute was enough for OFI to secure all three points and deepen the crisis at AEK. The Athens club, without a win since early November, drop below OFI to fifth place in the table. OFI are now third with 19 points from 12 games.

Having claimed a hard-fought draw at AEK last week, Aris were expected to defeat Lamia at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium in Thessaloniki, but they were held to a frustrating 1-1 tie. Following an opening goal from Thuram, Aris got on level terms in the 31st minute with Daniel Larsson scoring his second in as many games, however they couldn’t break down a stubborn Lamia side to score that elusive winner. Aris are seventh in the championship, while Lamia are three points behind in 10th.

Panathinaikos saw off the challenge of Asteras Tripolis at the Olympic Stadium with a penalty from Tasos Chatzigiovanis, Xanthi claimed their maiden victory in six matches as they defeated Atromitos 1-0, Panionios breezed past bottom side Panetolikos 3-0 and AE Larissa were too strong for Volos NFC.

Player of the Week: Sverrir Ingi Ingason (PAOK)

The 26-year-old was rock solid in the centre of the PAOK defence, keeping Olympiacos at bay with reliable play next to Jose Angel Crespo. With the game delicately poised, Ingason scored a hugely important goal for PAOK in the 29th minute, beating his marker to connect with a free kick and break the deadlock. A confident performance.

Goal of the Week: Lisandro Semedo (OFI)

Receiving the ball in a seemingly harmless position, Semedo brilliantly twisted to a shooting position, beating the AEK defence for pure skill before slotting a pinpoint effort beyond the despairing dive of Vasilis Barkas. A moment of wonderful quality.
