It was derby delight for Olympiacos on Sunday evening. Showing no signs of tiredness after their European exploits, Olympiacos put AEK to the sword at the sold-out Karaiskakis Stadium, as two goals from Ruben Semedo and Mohamed Camara earned a 2-0 triumph which keeps the Erythrolefki two points ahead of PAOK in first. AEK, however, drop down to fifth and are now eight points behind Olympiacos with eight rounds in the books. This result marked Nikos Kostenoglou’s first defeat at the AEK helm since he replaced Miguel Cardoso as head coach in late August.

PAOK are hot on the heels of Olympiacos. With several thousand of their supporters in attendance, the Dikefalos tou Vorra had too much class for newly-promoted Volos NFC on the road, emerging victorious by a score of 2-0 with Dimitris Limnios’ header and Dimitris Pelkas’ cheeky penalty securing the three points. Volos are 10th with nine points from eight matches.

Home is certainly not where the heart is for Panathinaikos. On Sunday afternoon, the Athenians conceded their third home loss of the season against AE Larissa, going down 2-1 inside a largely empty Olympic Stadium. Following a dreadful pass from goalkeeper Sokratis Dioudis in the first minute, AEL midfielder Radomir Milosavljevic thumped a volley into the right corner, before the gifted Amr Warda doubled the advantage in the second half when clean through. Ghayas Zahid did pull one back for Panathinaikos, but AEL held on to a famous 2-1 victory which ensures they sit in sixth place of the standings. AEL are unbeaten in five straight Super League games.

OFI are on a roll. Despite Adil Nabi missing a first-half penalty, the Cretans still managed to beat Xanthi in Heraklion, as goals from Joao Figueiredo and Lisandro Semedo saw the home team win 2-0. Scoring 17 goals in eight games, prolific OFI are now up to third in the table, six points behind Olympiacos and two ahead of AEK. Fellow high-flyers Xanthi are still fifth.

Improving Aris notched their second win in a row with a comfortable 2-0 triumph over strugglers Panetolikos at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium. After losing to Panathinaikos last week, Atromitos got back to winning ways with an emphatic 4-0 thrashing of bottom side Panonios, while Asteras Tripolis won for the third time as they eased past Lamia 4-1 on Monday.

Player of the Week: Mohamed Camara (Olympiacos)

The Guinean is surely the most complete midfielder in the Super League when at his best. Bossing the midfield with impressive authority, Camara dominated the battle against AEK in Piraeus, and he deservedly got on the scoresheet in the 77th minute when his curling effort swung past the diving Panagiotis Tsintotas. Simply superb.

Goal of the Week: Radomir Milosavljevic (AEL)

What a way to open the scoring. Just 33 seconds after the match against Panathinaikos started at the OAKA, Milosavljevic received a clever pass from Warda and thumped a vicious volley beyond Sokratis Dioudis. The placement on his shot was perfect as the ball swerved into the right corner, giving Dioudis no chance of stopping it.
