With the Xanthi FC Arena packed with PAOK fans, it was practically a home match for the Dikefalos tou Vorra, as they claimed a 2:1 victory to maintain their 10-point lead over nearest challengers Olympiacos with four matches remaining. Sergio Oliveira and Pedro Henrique scored the vital goals, and despite Dinis Almeida registering a reply for Xanthi, PAOK held out to win.

Over in Piraeus, Olympiacos edged past UEFA Europa League chasing Atromitos 2:1, with Guilherme and Andreas Bouchalakis scoring in the second half after Efthymis Koulouris had initially given the visitors the lead. At the moment, the Erythrolefki are 10 points adrift of PAOK, but they have played one game less as a result of the Eternal Derby against Panathinaikos having been called off.

Due to Atromitos’ defeat, AEK extended their advantage in third spot to seven points, thrashing sorry Panetolikos 4:0 at the Olympic Stadium. High flying Panetolikos were expected to make life difficult for AEK, but after Marios Oikonomou nodded in the opener in the 40th minute, they caved in. Alexandros Malis inadvertently turned Viktor Klonaridis’ cross into his own net, before Lucas Boye and Konstantinos Galanopoulos netted skillful goals for a slick AEK side. Panetolikos sit in sixth.

Impressive Aris took full advantage of Atromitos’ loss to Olympiacos, defeating OFI 3:1 at home with Lindsay Rose, Javier Matilla and Nicolas Martinez hitting the jackpot. Aris are now level on 43 points with Atromitos, and on matchday 28, they will host the Peristeri organisation at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium in what could be a decider for fourth position.

Apollon Smyrnis are finally relegated. It’s been inevitable for a long time, but after the weekend’s results, it was mathematically confirmed that they will be playing second tier football in the 2019/2020 campaign. On Monday evening, Apollon conceded yet another defeat, losing 1:3 to Panathinaikos in Rizoupoli with Thomas receiving a red card. Ilias Chatzitheodoridis, Argyris Kampetsis and Federico Macheda scored clever goals for Panathinaikos, while Nikos Vafeas headed in a consolation for Apollon. Panathinaikos are eighth after they were deducted three points for the Eternal Derby fiasco.

PAS Giannina moved clear of the automatic drop zone with a vital 2:0 victory at 15th placed Levadiakos, AEL occupy ninth after a 2:1 win against plummeting Asteras Tripolis, and a confident Lamia team tallied a nervy 1:0 triumph over mid-table Panionios to climb to seventh.
