The Dikefalos tou Vorra are back on top of the table. On Monday evening, the reigning champions weren’t given an easy ride by Volos NFC, but a second-half penalty from Vieirinha earned all three points for the hosts at the Toumba Stadium. As a result of their win, and Olympiacos only playing to a rather uneventful 0-0 derby draw at AEK on Sunday, PAOK are now in first place of the Super League again, holding a slender one-point advantage over the Erythrolefki.

AEK, who failed to impress against Olympiacos at the OAKA, are now looking nervously behind their shoulders from third position. All of a sudden, fourth-placed Panathinaikos have clicked into gear in 2020, recording four consecutive victories to now only trail AEK by four points. In Larissa, a pair of penalties from Anastasios Chatzigiovanis and Giannis Bouzoukis secured a 2-0 triumph for the Athenians against AEL, a team which is now winless in five straight league games. AEL’s last victory in the championship was recording in late December against Panionios.

At the wrong end of the table, Panetolikos showed that they aren’t prepared to wave the white flag just yet, as the Agrinio outfit tallied a surprise 2-0 triumph over inconsistent Aris with two goals from Rosa Farley. For their part, rock-bottom Panionios also displayed that they are prepared to fight for their Super League lives until the bitter end, with the Panthers beating Atromitos 1-0 in Nea Smyrni thanks to Dimitris Stavropoulos’ marker. Atromitos, however, are without a win in three straight games, as their hopes to qualify for the championship playoffs took another hit.

Elsewhere, Xanthi snatched a 2-2 draw against OFI in a battle between seventh and sixth respectively, while Asteras Tripolis scored in stoppage time to earn a 1-1 tie at Lamia.

Player of the Week: Rosa Farley (Panetolikos)

The 26-year-old Brazilian inspired Panetolikos to only their second win of the campaign. In the second half, he scored twice against Aris, firing his team to a hugely important victory which keeps their slim survival hopes alive.

Goal of the Week: Rosa Farley (Panetolikos)

Yes, it’s that man again, and his second goal against Aris in Agrinio was a thing of beauty. On the counter, Farley received a pass inside the Aris penalty area, and he managed to beat Julian Cuesta with a gorgeous lob. A simply exquisite strike.
