KLONARIDIS STRIKES FOR FIRST TIME IN OVER A YEAR

Viktor Klonaridis is back. In the current campaign, the 27-year-old attacker has struggled with injury problems, but he finally scored his first goal of the campaign on Wednesday as AEK comfortably defeated Volos NFC 3-1 on the road. With AEK already leading 2-0, Klonaridis successfully connected with Helder Lopes’ low cross from the left wing, calmly turning the ball beyond the goalkeeper to put the match out of Volos’ sight.

The goal was Klonaridis’ first since 2 October 2018, when he scored twice in a 3-2 home defeat to Benfica in the UEFA Champions League group stage. 477 days came and went between those his goals against Benfica and Volos.

Klonaridis is under contract at AEK until the 2019/2020 season ends. It remains to be seen if he will regularly feature in the starting line-up under the leadership of Italian coach Massimo Carrera.

OLYMPIACOS WITHOUT DEFEAT IN 30 CONSECUTIVE GAMES

Olympiacos are approaching a full year without suffering defeat in the Super League.

At the moment, the Erythrolefki hold a slender one-point lead over PAOK in first position of the championship, with the two clubs involved in a two-horse race for the title. This week, Olympiacos edged past OFI 1-0 in Heraklion thanks to Mohamed Camara’s goal, a victory which marked the 30th successive Super League game in which the Piraeus-based organisation didn’t suffer a loss.

Olympiacos’ most recent league defeat was conceded on 10 February 2019 when PAOK claimed a vital 3-1 victory at the Toumba Stadium on their way to the crown. So far, in the 2019/2020 campaign, Olympiacos have tallied 15 victories and five draws in 20 matches.

50 LEAGUE GAMES AT THE OLYMPIACOS HELM

The 1-0 triumph at OFI was a special day for Pedro Martins.

Martins, who became the head coach of Olympiacos in the summer of 2018, has now been at the helm for 50 Super League games, achieving 39 victories, eight draws and three defeats with the Thrylos. Interestingly, OFI and PAOK are the only two Super League clubs to have beaten Martins’ Olympiacos.

The Portuguese coach published this following post on Twitter:
