Spanoulis signs for another year

Vassilis Spanoulis, who has won the EuroLeague three times during his glittering career, has extended his contract with Olympiacos for the 2020/2021 campaign.

This following statement was released by Olympiacos on Saturday:

“The president of Olympiacos BC, Giorgos Angelopoulos, met with team captain Vassilis Spanoulis and agreed to renew their cooperation for another year.”

“These 10 years have been full of great moments, but also difficult ones,” stated Spanoulis when reacting to the contract extension. “We achieved great things which will always live in the hearts of Olympiacos fans! From the bottom of my heart, I thank the Olympiacos presidents for their trust in me. We have mutual respect and appreciation. I also thank my teammates, the coaches and all team staff for the love and trust. I feel proud and blessed to be a part of the Olympiacos family. I’m looking forward to the start of the new season, I want to help the team achieve its goals and be successful.”

During the 2019/2020 season, the vastly experienced 37-year-old averaged 11.3 points, 4.6 assists and 1.2 rebounds for Olympiacos in the EuroLeague before the campaign was abandoned as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic. Spanoulis previously won the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos in 2009 and Olympiacos in 2012 and 2013.

The legendary Greek guard joined Olympiacos in 2010. 

VEZENKOV ALSO EXTENDS CONTRACT

The Erythrolefki had earlier confirmed that Sasha Vezenkov extended his contract with Olympiacos for another two years:

“Olympiacos BC announces the renewal of its contract with Sasha Vezenkov. The 24-year-old forward will wear the red and white jersey for another two years.”

Vezenkov was snapped up by Olympiacos in the summer of 2018. In the 2019/2020 EuroLeague regular season, the Bulgarian international tallied an average of 7.1 points, two rebounds and 0.5 assists in 26 appearances.
