The coronavirus pandemic is already having an effect on the 2020/2021 campaign. Last week, UEFA issued an official recommendation to all member associations to end the summer transfer window on October 5, with the organisation to close player registration for its competitions a day later. This following statement was released by UEFA:

The main reason behind the decision is the fact that the 2019/2020 season will end a lot later than originally planned as a consequence of the COVID-19 outbreak. The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League will reach their respective completions in late August.

Furthermore, following a request by Olympiacos, the EPO has agreed to formally draw curtains on the 2019/2020 campaign on August 31, with the Erythrolefki involved in the latter stages of the Europa League. Olympiacos will compete against Wolverhampton Wanderers in early August for a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The EPO also stated that the start of the summer transfer period in Greece will begin on August 3.
