According to research undertaken between 2013 and 2018, the average Super League crowd amounts to 3,896 in the last five years, making the Greek championship the 28th most attended across Europe. The German Bundesliga is in first position (43,302), followed by the English Premier League (36,675), La Liga in Spain (27,381), Italy’s Serie A (22,967) and the French Ligue 1 (21,556). Championships in countries such as Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Ukraine boast higher average attendances than in Greece. The Super League is the 38th most attended championship in the world.

Olympiacos will finish the 2018/2019 with the highest Super League average attendance of 21,073. PAOK, who have sold out the Toumba Stadium ahead of their potentially decisive duel against Levadiakos, sit in second spot with an average attendance of 18,113 after 28 rounds. AEK (9,877) occupy third position. Olympiacos’ two biggest crowds of the campaign were for the 1:1 draw against Panathinaikos (31,250) and the 0:1 loss to PAOK (30,532).

10 of the 16 Super League teams possess average attendances lower than 10,000, while Apollon Smyrnis (827) and Atromitos (729) didn’t even reach four figures. For the second successive season, Damir Canadi’s Atromitos have punched above their weight to clinch fourth position, but their successes haven’t been enough to attract a large number of supporters to the Peristeri Stadium. On the other hand, Apollon have suffered relegation.
