Following the video conference on Thursday, the Super League released the following statement:

“The Board of Directors of the Super League unanimously decided, by video conference, that the suspension of the championship continues until April 24, 2020.

“It was also unanimously decided that the situation will be reassessed via a video conference of the Super League Board of Directors before April 24.

“A working group consisting of representatives of AEK, AEL, Atromitos, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and PAOK will evaluate all of the parameters and effects of the coronavirus pandemic on football, in collaboration with the legal and financial services of the Super League and the occasional participation of experts and representatives of institutional bodies, for example licensing matters.”

According to information from SDNA, Panathinaikos want the 2019/2020 campaign to be permanently cancelled, with the likes of Aris and Panetolikos supporting that particular proposal. Panionios and PAOK would also agree to the season ending under certain conditions, while Olympiacos supremo, Evangelos Marinakis, wants all possible solutions to be exhausted before the campaign is cancelled. AEK requested for the suspension to continue until April 24.

Atromitos owner, Giorgos Spanos, confirmed that the idea of cancelling the season is now on the table. Reports are suggesting that a cancellation rather than an eventual restart is the more likely outcome of the situation.

It had previously been mentioned that the Super League could restart in May.

UEFA has expressed its desire for all domestic championships to successfully be completed.
