The EPO released this following statement on Friday:

“The Hellenic Football Federation has accepted the proposals forwarded by the Super League with a view to data concerning the COVID-19 pandemic as follows:

“- The maximum amount of substitutes is now five (5) in all playoff and playout matches;

“- The maximum amount of substitutes who sit on the bench is increased from seven (7) to nine (9), with clubs able to declare twenty (20) footballers in the list of available players for matches instead of eighteen (18);

“- The holding of cooling breaks in all 2019-20 playoff and playout games;

“- The extension of the 2019-20 season;

“- The extension of the deadline concerning the confirmation of the start date of the 2020-21 season is delayed until 30/6/20.”

These regulations will also be applied to the Super League 2 and Football League if they subsequently resume their respective 2019/2020 campaigns.

FIFA had already confirmed its intention to introduce the rule change concerning substitutions across all leagues. With players having long been unable to train as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic, the risk of injury is higher than usual, but FIFA hopes that the increased amount of permitted substitutions will help footballers remain in good condition.

The 2019/2020 Super League playoffs and playouts will begin on June 6.

EIGHT GAMMA ETHNIKI TEAMS PROMOTED

Furthermore, the EPO also confirmed that the winners of all eight 2019/2020 Gamma Ethniki groups will be promoted:

“The proposal of the Organising Committee concerning the promotion of the eight champions of the Gamma Ethniki groups has been unanimously ratified. Clubs which had already been mathematically relegated will be demoted. No team will be relegated from the Crete group.”

As a result of the EPO’s announcement, these following eight Gamma Ethniki group winners have been promoted to the Football League:

Panserraikos (Group 1)

Almopos Aridea (Group 2)

Pierikos (Group 3)

AEP Kozani (Group 4)

Kallithea (Group 5)

Rodos FC (Group 6)

Asteras Vlachioti (Group 7)

Episkopi (Group 8)

The format for the 2020/2021 campaign has yet to be finalised. Winners of the Gamma Ethniki groups had previously called for a merging of the Super League 2 and Football League.
