Although the Greek Super League is not considered a top-five European footballing competition, it has produced its fair share of talents over the years and has seen an array of players move abroad for high transfer fees. Less than three months ago, Daniel Podence became the latest when he joined Wolverhampton from Olympiacos in a big-money move.

So who are the highest valued players at the moment in the Greek Super League? While there may be some surprises at certain values, there is a common trend in that they all ply their respective trades for Olympiacos, PAOK, and AEK. Below is the list, according to the site ‘Transfermarkt.’

Kostas Fortounis (Olympiacos)

Olympiacos’ talisman remains atop of this list despite his long-term injury. The attacking midfielder has since returned and played relatively well. He spent 184 days on the sidelines after suffering a horrid ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury. He is worth 10 million EUR according to ‘Transfermarkt’ and has scored once in nine appearances so far this season.

Mady Camara (Olympiacos)

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder is the second-most expensive player in the Greek Super League. The Guinea international has been a consistent performer for Olympiacos ever since joining with his cultured style of play. His goal against AEK in a 2-0 derby home win was the highlight. Camara, who attracted interest from Sheffield United and Marseille in January, is valued at 8 million EUR and has two goals and one assist in 39 matches.

Leo Jaba (PAOK)

PAOK’s Brazilian winger has fallen out of favour and, therefore, barely featuring this season. However, he was a member of the “Invincibles” title-winning squad and, when in-form, is a tricky prospect for opposition defences. The 21-year-old attracted interest from the likes of Newcastle, Anderlecht, and Porto last season and is valued at seven million EUR.

Omar Elabdellaoui (Olympiacos)

The Norwegian international has become a mainstay and a strong leader at Olympiacos. He has been at the club for over five seasons and is at his peak. His current contract expires next summer and he is currently valued at six million EUR. He has made 38 appearances to date and has one goal to his name.

Ruben Semedo (Olympiacos)

The Portuguese centre-back joined Olympiacos last summer and immediately hit the ground running, emerging as a dominant player who reads the game well, is strong in one-on-one battles, and strong in the air. Injury disrupted his fast start to the season, but he is continuing to put his troubled past behind him. He is valued at six million EUR and has scored five goals in 37 matches.
