The Athenians are making full use of home advantage. Having defeated Bayern Munich and Zalgiris Kaunas in their previous two games at the OAKA Indoor Hall, Panathinaikos subsequently made it a hat-trick of wins against French outfit ASVEL, easing to a comfortably 100-88 victory which keeps them in sixth place of the EuroLeague table with a 13-8 record.

ASVEL, for their part, sit in 14th position with eight wins and 13 defeats.

As usual, the mercurial Nick Calathes was key for Panathinaikos, tallying 10 points and 17 assists. 11 of those assists were tallied in the first half alone.

Jimmer Fredette (22 points), Ioannis Papapetrou (21 points), Tyrese Rice (14 points) and Giorgos Papagiannis (12 points, eight rebounds) also caught the eye, as Panathinaikos achieved an impressive 65% success rate from the three-point line.

Next week, Panathinaikos travel to Valencia, while ASVEL host Zalgiris.

THE MATCH

Initially, ASVEL kept within two points of Panathinaikos in the first quarter, but that deficit soon became a lot larger.

Scoring for fun, Panathinaikos practically put the game to bed in the second frame, outscoring ASVEL 32-17 with clinical, flowing attacking play.

However, while Panathinaikos would emerge victorious, they did show signs of relaxation in the concluding two quarters.

Showing fight, ASVEL did win the final two periods, notably scoring 30 points in the fourth.
