Two brilliant goals help 10-man PAS Giannina see of Levadiakos

Two brilliant goals from Alexandros Nikolias and Dimitri Manos saw PAS Giannina dispatch Levadiakos 0:2 on the road in a relegation six pointer.

PAS Giannina recorded a very important win in their fight to avoid the drop as they took down fellow relegation fighters, Levadiakos, 0:2 in Saturday’s Super League action. The visitors, who played with ten men from the 50th minute on after Kagias was sent off with a second yellow card, were able to score two brilliant goals through Alexandros Nikolias (77) and Dimitris Manoas (90’+5) to add three vital points to their Super League tally.

Nikolais provided the breakthrough in the 77th minute when a tragic defensive blunder from Adilehou allowed the PAS Giannina midfielder in on goal and he cleverly chipped the ball over a helpless Bajic. Olympiacos loanee, Manos, secured the victory for the Ajax of Epirus in second half stoppage as he netted home an acrobatic wondergal from the top of the penalty area.

PAS Giannina sit in 13th place with 26 points while Levadiakos are second from bottom with 20 points. The defeat comes as a major blow for the Livadeia side, who are now well on their way to second division with just four matches remaining.

Lamia move into sixth, Panionios in trouble

Lamia increased their unbeaten run to seven games after defeating Panionios 1:0 at home. Karamanos’ sixth minute goal separated the sides at the final whistle. Panionios had a great opportunity to leave Lamia with a draw, however Durmishaj’s 41st minute penalty was well stopped by Saranov.

The result moves Lamia up to sixth place in the standings with Panetolikos on 33 points while Panionios drop down to tenth with just 29 points. The Nea Smyrni club are just three points clear of 13 placed PAS Giannina, who sit in the relegation playoff spot.
