The ridiculously unpredictable nature of this season’s Greek Super League has made for many thrilling matches already, despite the season not being even at the halfway point. There have already been a whopping four comebacks so far this season (where teams have overturned a two goal deficit), where a team has claimed all three points despite losing a match at one point. This season is set to break the record for comebacks!
The derbies so far this campaign have been great and tense spectacles, and out of all 70 matches to take place to date, only three have ended goalless…
Panathinaikos’ exhilarating 3-2 Athens Derby win over AEK was the most recent comeback and one that will not be forgotten for a long time. The Greens looked down and out, trailing 0-2 at halftime, but a late second half surge saw them win in the most exciting manner possible.
Impressively, Larissa have also beaten OFI and Aris from behind this season to claim two out of the four comeback wins. This has seen the Thessaly outfit surge up the ladder and occupy sixth spot. The other comeback win saw Atromitos edge Volos away.
Remarkably, all four of these come from behind wins have all ended in the same scoreline 3-2.
The record amount of comebacks (overturning two goal leads) in one season in the Greek top flight is five, with this season set to break that with ease. The 2005-06 season currently holds the record.
