USA friendly between Greece and Mexico confirmed 

The Greek national team will compete against Mexico in a friendly match on American territory, the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) has confirmed.

On Thursday, the EPO released this following statement:

“One of the traditional forces of Latin American football, Mexico, will be facing our national team during the 2020 US Tour which will be held in late March in preparation for the UEFA Nations League.

“The match will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday 29 March at 18:00 local time.”

In the past, Greece and Mexico have played against each other on four occasions, with the two nations claiming one win apiece while the two remaining games finished level:

06.07.1971. Mexico - Greece 1-1

30.09.1971. Greece - Mexico 0-1

16.08.1999. Greece - Mexico 3-2

22.06.2005. Mexico - Greece 0-0

The EPO also revealed that there are ongoing negotiations concerning a second friendly game to be held in the USA in spring.

Greece will return to competitive action in September when the 2020 UEFA Nations League begins. The Ethniki Omada will compete in League C.

The Greeks failed to qualify for UEFA Euro 2020 after finishing in third place of Group J behind Finland and Italy in the qualification process.
