As previously reported on AGONAsport, Vagiannidis was weighing up his options for next season, with his contract at Panathinaikos expiring. Nevertheless, as Italian reports had already predicted, the teenage full-back subsequently informed Panathinaikos of his decision to move abroad on Tuesday.

According to information provided by Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, the 18-year-old has already made a final call to join Inter, rejecting proposals from Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund in favour of the Italian giants. Vagiannidis is confident that he will be able to break into Inter’s senior team during the upcoming 2020/2021 season.

Vagiannidis caught the eye for Panathinaikos when making his Super League debut this season. On February 16, the gifted right-back was handed his maiden start for the Athenians in the domestic championship, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist as his team breezed past Panetolikos 3-1 at the Olympic Stadium.

CHATZIGIOVANNIS DRAWING FRENCH INTEREST

Tasos Chatzigiovannis is drawing interest from France.

Towards the end of the week, the French media suggested that Nantes are considering whether to submit a bid for Chatzigiovannis in the transfer window, with the 22-year-old winger having enjoyed a successful Super League regular season campaign by scoring seven goals and making three assists. More foreign clubs are also contemplating making a swoop for Chatzigiovannis.

Chatzigiovannis progressed through the Panathinaikos academy.

In other news, the new share capital increase of five million has been formally approved by the Panathinaikos board, while technical director Xavi Roca has received news that the budget for the 2020/2021 campaign will be in the region of four million.
