Vieirinha successfully returns from ACL injury

PAOK captain Andre Vieirinha returned to action last weekend against Lamia in the Super League after successfully recovering from his anterior cruciate ligament injury.

190 days after receiving the anterior cruciate ligament injury against AE Larissa at the AEL FC Arena, Vieirinha made his long-awaited return to competitive football, emerging as a substitute for PAOK in the 84th minute of the comfortable 3-0 triumph over Lamia in Thessaloniki on Sunday. The emotional moment won’t be forgotten in a hurry either as the Toumba Stadium crowd gave him a huge welcome.

PAOK supremo Ivan Savvidis was present before the match to embrace the Portuguese full-back However, Vieirinha’s biggest supporter was his seven-year-old daughter Christina, who was on the sidelines next to the bench shortly before her father returned to the pitch. Stand-in captain Jose Angel Crespo also ran over to Vieirinha to hand over the armband prior to him entering the match.
