After an initial great start to the season, Volos had lost all Super League games since beating OFI on September 21, but they finally got back to winning ways this Saturday with a dramatic 3-2 win against 10-man Panetolikos at home. Volos scored three second-half goals after Panetolikos had taken the lead in the 39th minute.

Volos move up to seventh place in the table with 12 points from 10 games. Panetolikos, however, languish in 13th spot without a league win this season.

Following a bright start, Panetolikos made the breakthrough six minutes before half time, as Pierre Sagna sent a powerful drive from the right wing into the left corner.

Volos equalised 10 minutes into the second half as Juan Muniz curled a wonderful free kick beyond opposing goalkeeper Nikos Giannakopoulos.

Things got worse for Panetolikos midway through the second frame. In the 65th minute, Rasmus Sjostedt was shown a second yellow card for a cheap foul, and Volos promptly took full advantage just 60 seconds later as Sergio Chica prodded home from close range.

Panetolikos weren’t prepared to give up, though, and the Agrinio side got back on level terms within two minutes with Gboly Ariyibi’s deflected strike beating Nikos Melissas.

Nevertheless, Volos weren’t to be denied, and Erik Jendrisek headed into the empty net 12 minutes from time after Giannakopoulos mishandled a free kick.
