Volos draw while Atromitos earn comfortable win

Volos NFC played to a drab 0-0 draw with Lamia at home in the Super League playouts, while Atromitos got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over AE Larissa in Peristeri.

It wasn’t a classic between Volos and Lamia. During the first half, Volos offered plenty of attacking threat as they aimed to recuperate after last week’s defeat in Larissa, but the game subsequently petered out in the second stanza with neither team creating opportunities.
Volos should have taken the lead in the first 45 minutes of play. However, despite regularly carving the Lamia defence open, they failed to hit the jackpot. As a result of this draw, Volos occupy fifth place in the playout table, while Lamia are fourth with 32 points - one more than Volos possess.
In the next round, Volos will face Asteras in Tripoli and Lamia will host Xanthi.
Elsewhere, Atromitos had no problem in defeating AEL at the Peristeri Stadium, coasting to a 3-0 triumph which takes them to the top of the playout standings with 37 points. AEL, for their part, are in third spot with 33 points on the board.
Atromitos quickly took the initiative. Dominating proceedings with their quick play, the hosts quickly put themselves in the driving seat, as a cross from the right wing was inadvertently turned into his own net by AEL defender Manolis Bertos.
The home side put the game out of AEL’s reach in the 52nd minute. After the initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper, the ball fell kindly to the feet of Giorgos Manousos, who had no trouble in tallying his 10th marker of the league campaign.
The goal of the day was witnessed with 17 minutes remaining. On the left flank, Athanasios Androutsos unleashed a spectacular attempt which flew into the far corner to put the icing on the cake for Atromitos.
In their next match, Atromitos will compete against Panetolikos at home, while AEL will take on Panionios at home.
