League leaders, Volos NFC, continued their good form on Sunday as they dispatched AE Karaiskakis 0:1 on the road. In what was a rather uneventful match, Garcia’s 30th minute penalty separated the sides at the final whistle as Volos moved up to 41 points from 16 matches. They hold a nine-point cushion ahead of second placed Apollon Larissas, who defeated Kerkyra 1:2 on Sunday. AE Karaiskakis sit in 11th with 18 points.

Iraklis gave up a second half lead as they played to a disappointing 1:1 draw away to Irodotos. Cleyton opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 60th minute before Sialmas equalized just ten minutes later. The result sees Iraklis tied for seventh place along with Doxa Drama with 22 points. Drama will also be disappointed with their showing over the weekend as they fell at home to Trikala by a 1:2 scoreline. The Thessaly club rallied in the second half to come from behind with Triantafyllakos netting both goals after the restart. Trikala are tied for twelfth with 17 points.

Both Panchaiki and Platanias suffered setbacks on Sunday as both clubs played to goalless draws on the road against lowly Aiginiakos and Aittitos Spaton, respectively. The two teams remained tied for fourth with 25 points while Aittitos Spaton (14 points) and Aiginiakos (10 points) sit bottom of the Football League standings.

In other action, AOX Kissamikos thrashed Sparti 4:1 in Crete. Two goals within each half saw the Cretan club build and impressive four-goal lead before Kenourgios netted a late consolation goal for the visitors. The result move AOX Kissamikos up to nineth (with Apollon Pontou) on 21 points while Sparti are third from bottom with just 14 points.

Apollon Pontou and Ergotelis conclude matchday 16 in the Greek second tier on Monday.
