Wolves unveil Podence signing

Daniel Podence has officially signed a contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers after Olympiacos agreed to sell the Portuguese winger.

On Thursday, the English club released this following statement:

“Wolves have secured the signing of Portuguese winger Daniel Podence from Olympiacos, subject to international clearance.”

Reports have stated that Wolves paid Olympiacos in the region of 20 million euros to sign Podence. The 24-year-old has signed a contract with Wolves which will last for 4.5 years.

“I describe myself as a fast, virtuoso and objective player,” stated Podence when speaking to Wolves. “My individual goals are to play as much as possible, help the team with goals and assists and collectively. I’d like to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. That is a goal which is within our reach, and I hope that we can have a better season than last year. It was always a childhood dream of mine to play in the English Premier League, and I look at this achievement as a dream come true.”

In the current campaign, the diminutive winger made 27 appearances across all competitions for Olympiacos, contributing with five goals and five assists. Podence offered plenty of energy, creativity and flair with his superb attacking play in Piraeus since joining Olympiacos from Sporting in somewhat controversial circumstances in the summer of 2018.
