Xanthi conquer Platanias in Crete
 

GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 2

Xanthi claimed their first win of the new SuperLeague season on Saturday with a comfortable 2-0 away win over Platanias in Crete, while Atromitos and Panaitolikos shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in Agrinio.

Milan Rastavac’s Xanthi, who had an excellent season last year before fading badly in the final stretch, were superior all over the pitch to Platanias, sealing the three points courtesy of goals from Brito and Erik Jendrišek.

Xanthi failed to score last week as they were held to a 0-0 home draw by SuperLeague newboys Lamia, but they were not to be denied this time round with Cape Verde striker Brito breaking the deadlock at the Perivolia Municipal Stadium after 18 minutes.

Slovakia forward Jendrišek ended the match as a contest seven minutes later when he made it 2-0 to the visitors.
