Xanthi cemented their hold on fifth place in the SuperLeague on Sunday thanks to a 3-0 demolition job on an under-par PAS Giannina side at the Xanth FC Arena, while Larissa pulled themselves away from the relegation battle with an entertaining 4-2 home win over mid-table Panaitolikos.

Watch LIVE from AGONAsport.com on Wednesday, April 18th the second leg of the Greek Cup semi-finals as AEK look to overturn their first leg defeat against Larissa!

After a goalless first half in which both sides were evenly matched in Xanthi, second-half strikes from Petar Durickovic and Erik Jendrisek, who grabbed a brace and possibly the goal of the season, sealed a deserved three-point haul for the home side.

Despite a slow opening half in which Milan Rastavac’s men failed to spark, the home side were worthy winners as two superb goals in the space of six minutes broke the back of the match.

The first came just five minutes into the second half, with Durickovic finding the back of the net with a peach of a hit from just outside the penalty area.

Then came what could be a contender for the goal of the campaign when Slovakian forward Jendrisek spotted PAS goalkeeper Marcos Vellidis off his line and struck a superb lofted 40-yard shot up and over the retreating keeper and into the net.

Jendrisek then added the icing on the cake with his second of the game - and his 10th of the season - in the 72nd minute to complete a fine win.

In Larissa, the home side had too much quality and firepower for Traianos Dellas’ Panaitolikos, despite the fact that the visitors took an early lead through Vlad Morar’s opening goal in the first minute.

Goals from Radomir Milosavljevic (9), Nikolas Golias (14), Thomas Nazlidis from the penalty spot (42) and Adnan Aganovic (57), canceled out that early set-back as the home side moved into a comfortable 4-1 lead.

A Giannis Masouras own goal after 61 minutes proved nothing more than a consolation strike for Panaitolikos as the home side held firm to claim a victory which moved them eight points clear of the relegation places into 12th spot.
