What Are Greece’s Chances of Qualifying for UEFA Euro 2024

Greece's Chances In The UEFA Euro Qualifiers

With the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying tournament approaching, 53 European national teams will soon start to prepare their lineups looking forward to kicking off their qualifying campaigns in March. The qualifying process will take almost an entire calendar year, and will determine the 23 best European national teams that will head over to Germany in the summer of 2024.

Being connected to the UEFA Nations League, the UEFA Euro qualifying process will now offer a new format that will give some national teams a second chance to earn their spot in the final stage hosted by Germany.

Greece is one of the teams that is assured at least a play-off opportunity based on their UEFA Nations League ranking.

Greece can also qualify directly, but to say that they have a mountain to climb to do that, would be an understatement. To give you a better perspective of the situation, we will consider the realistic chances of Greece making it to the final stage of the UEFA Euro 2024 by analyzing its opponents.

Whether Greece qualifies or not, the qualifying process will undoubtedly bring fireworks on the football pitches across the old continent.

Ethiopian fans who enjoy European football and are watching the qualifiers can also check some of the best ethiopia betting apps where they can back their favorites or try their luck betting on some of the underdogs.

Gibraltar

Greece will start the qualifying campaign in a match against Gibraltar that will mark Gibraltar's return to the Algarve Stadium in Faro, where they have previously played for a short period of four years. Gibraltar is the absolute underdog of Group B, and Greece will have to attack from the start and secure the 6 points from the two matches if they want to keep their dream of direct qualification alive.

France

As product owner - Tony Sloterman says, "You have to know your opponents to be able to beat them." However, we can all agree it will take much more than knowing them to beat Les Bleus, led by the incredible Kylian Mbappé. The French national team has produced some of the most mesmerizing performances on the pitch, and expecting a positive result against them will be a long shot.

Netherlands

Being drawn into a group with France and Netherlands can be a tough pill to swallow for Greek football fans. However, let's not forget UEFA Euro 2004 and the historical performance that showed how the Greeks don't back down from a football challenge.

Ronald Koeman's side is known for its fluid style of play and the numerous positional rotations. They also play an extremely high defensive line which might allow Greece to capitalize on the counter.

Republic of Ireland

Although their conservative style of play quite often makes them a tough nut to crack, the Republic of Ireland is one of the two opponents against which Greece can push for the win and secure 6 points.

The first match against Ireland will take place in Greece, and the hosts can go into it confidently, considering that the Republic of Ireland has never won against the Greek national team. However, we should set all the trivia aside and expect a tough match against The Boys in Green, led by their captain, the Premier League legend Séamus Coleman.
