Olympiacos have signed their starting striker for the new season with the Nigerian Emmanuel Emenike. The 30-year old made a move from Fenerbahce to Piraeus rumored to cost Olympiacos €2.5 million while Emenike will have annual earnings of over €2 million. Emenike signed a 2+1 year contract with his new club.

In his first statement as an Olympiacos player he said “I want to say to the fans that I am here. I am here to play and to give my very best on the pitch, for the club and its fans.”

Olympiacos went for Emenike after the club’s first signing target for the striker’s position, Bokani, failed to pass his medical tests

Emenike’s first European club was Karabukspor (2009-2011), scoring 31 goals in 51 appearances, before staying in Turkey for Fenerbahce. However he did not make an appearance with the club and in that same transfer period, he moved to Russia for Spartak Moscow. In the Russian capital from 2011-2013, he scored 21 goals in 42 appearances. He returned to Fenerbahce where he had a leading role with the club and after loan spells at Al Ain (first half of 2015/16 season) and West Ham (second half of 2015/16 season), he returned to Fenerbahce last season.

In total, Emenike has made 93 appearances with Fenerbahce with 25 goals and 22 assists. He played for his country from 2011-2015 registering 37 caps and nine goals before retiring in October 2015.
