On May 11, AEK and PAOK will do battle for the Greek Cup at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, with the two clubs facing each other in the final in the third consecutive campaign. In the past two seasons, fans of both teams were allowed to attend, but that won’t be the case this year.

On Monday, Deputy Greek Minister of Culture and Sport, Giorgos Vasiliadis, confirmed that tickets will not be issued for the Saturday’s Greek Cup final, but only a set number of invitations will be handed out.

This number was announced on Tuesday as only 1040 invitations will be given to the two clubs and the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO). PAOK and AEK will each receive 120 invitations and an additional 100 for each team for the players’ family and friends. The remaining 600 invitations will be given to the EPO.

It was initially thought that each club would receive over 1000 tickets, however due to the fears of these tickets ending up in the wrong hands, each team was only given 120 + 100 tickets. The two Dikefaloi, who expressed their desire for fans at the Cup final, were not pleased with the tickets allocated to each team.

PAOK’s invitees will sit in Gate 23 while AEK’s invitees will sit in Gate 31.

The Cup final will take place this Saturday with kickoff confirmed at 20:30.
