GREEK BASKETBALL CUP - FINAL

Panathinaikos 101 - 54 Faros Keratsiniou

Panathinaikos emphatically beat Faros Keratsiniou 101-54 in the Greek Basketball Cup Final lifting the Greek Cup for the 5th consecutive year and 17th time in their history. The Prasinoi had an easy task against the second division, Cinderella, team Faros Keratsiniou setting a new record with the 47 point difference.

The heavy favorites were not threatened during the match as all 12 players scored.  Giankovits and Gist lead Panathinaikos with 13 points each and Papagianni had 12 points in the game. Skordilis was the leading scorer for Faros with 14 points. Dimitris Diamantidis played in his last Cup Final and was named MVP of the match.

The 47-point difference is a new record for the Cup final. Aris held the previous record from the 1987 season when they beat Panellinio 110-70. Panathinaikos also is the third team in the final to break the 100-point mark, which was first accomplished by Olympiacos in 1977 (103 points) and Aris in 1987 (110 points). This is Panathainikos’ 17th Greek Basketball cup title, which is more than any other club. Olympiacos is next with 9 titles and Aris sits in 3rd with 8 titles.
