The 2016 UEFA Champions League Final in Milan will be an all Madrid Final! Real Madrid defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the second leg of the Semi-finals and advanced to the final.  There they will play their “city rivals” Atletico Madrid for the 2016 UEFA Champions League Title.

Real Madrid took control of possession early in the game and pressed in City’s half. In the 10th minute, things took a turn for the worse when the visitors lost their captain, Kompany, to injury. Ten minutes later, Bale’s strike took a fortunate deflection of Fernando and ended up in the back of the net, giving Real Madrid a 1-0 lead. City could not find a rhythm in the first half, however they came close to leveling the scores when Fernandinho’s strike hit the woodwork. The match opened up in the second half as City looked for an away goal that would give them the advantage on aggregate. Real Madrid almost put the game away in the 62nd minute, but Bale’s shot hit the post and stayed out. In the final 20 minutes, City went on the offensive and came close in the 88th minute when Aguero’s strike went over the bar. City could not find a goal and the game ended 1-0 with Real Madrid progressing to the Champions League Final.

Real Madrid will play their city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Final on May 28. This will be a repeat of the 2014 Final where Real Madrid won their 10th Champions League Title.
