Modric 41'

The Croatians came away with a rather easy victory over Turkey in the first match of Group D. The only goal of the match came right before halftime, with a spectacular finish from Luka Modric's volley. In addition to hitting the woodwork on THREE occasions, Croatia had many more chances to increase their margin of victory. The win puts Croatia in first place in Group D, and Turkey in bottom spot, as both teams await the other group match between Spain and the Czech Republic tomorrow.

Poland 1 - 0 Northern Ireland
Milik 51'

Northern Ireland, who was the surprise in Greece's qualifying group, made their first ever appearance at the European Championship Finals. After a goal-less first half, that was dominated by Poland, the breakthrough came 6 minutes into the second half when Milki's well placed finish gave Poland the 1-0 lead. Northern Ireland failed to threaten Poland's goal and the Euro 2012 co-hosts kept their one goal lead. Poland controlled the possession, creating chances to secure the victory, but the 1-0 lead remained until the final whistle. With the win, Poland sits atop of Group C, with Germany, while Northern Ireland is tied at the bottom of the table with Ukraine.

Germany 2 - 0 Ukraine
Mustafi 19'
Schweinsteiger 90'+2'

The World Champions, Germany, got off to a great start and Mustafi opened the score with a thunderous header from Kroos' free-kick. The Ukrainians pressed in the final 15 minutes of the half, creating fantastic chances to pull level, but Germany took their 1-0 lead into the break. The second half provided little entertainment as Germany controlled the rhythm of the game and their one goal lead. In stoppage time, Germany executed a great counter-attack, finished  by Schweinsteiger, giving Germany the 2-0 victory. Germany sits atop of Group C, along with Poland, while the Ukraine sits on 0 points with Northern Ireland.
