AGONAsport.com brings you a recap of all of Greece’s Athletes that competed in Day 8 (Saturday, August 13) of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

 

TODAY'S COMPETING GREEK ATHLETES
 

Shooting – Men's Skeet, Qualifications Day 2: Efthimios Mitas
***Mitas had a difficult task after finishing 22nd in the first round of qualifying. Today he jumped to 13th in the standings with 119 points but did not progress to the event's semi-finals.

Track & Field – Women’s Triple Jump, Qualifying: Paraskevi Papachristou
***Papachristou automatically qualified for the FINAL round of the Women's Triple Jump after jumping 14.43 meters. She will be a heavy contender for a medal in tomorrow's final. Full story here...

Track & Field – Women’s 400 m, Heat 6: Irini Vasiliou
***Vasiliou was far from her best and completed her race in 6th place with a time of 54.37 seconds. She did not qualify for the semi-finals finishing 54th overall.

Track & Field– Women's Heptathlon, Final events: Sofia Yfantidou
***Yfantidou competed in the final 3 events of the Women's Heptathlon, including the Long Jump (29th), Javelin Throw (2nd), and 800 m run (26th). She finished in 25th place.

Sailing – Mixed-Narca 17, Preliminary Races 7-9: Bekatorou & Petaniotis
***The Greek duo fell two places in the standings to 16th after today's 3 races. In race 7 they claimed 3rd place while finishing 14th and 15th in races 8 and 9. Tomorrow they will need a great showing to finish in the top 10 and qualify for the medal race. 

 Sailing – Men’s Finn, Preliminary Races 7-8: Ioannis Mitakis
***It was a rough day for Mitakis as he fell to 11th in the standings. He finished the 7th race in 21st and the 8th race in 9th. He will compete tomorrow in the final two races with hopes of finishing in the top 10 for a place in the medal race.

Track & Field– Men's Pole Vault, Qualifying: Kostas Filippidis
***Filippidis qualified for the final of the Men's Pole vault after recording a jump of 5.70 meters. He finished in the top 12, leading to a place in the Monday's final. Full story here...
