AEK’s stadium ban reduced, Will host PAOK with fans
AEK’s closed stadium ban was reduced to one match from two and the Kitronomavri will host PAOK with fans on November 5th in their matchday 10 derby.
AEK were sentenced to a two match closed stadium ban after their fans lit flares during matchday 5’s derby against Olympiacos at the OAKA stadium. Although a light offense to say the least, the new Disciplinary Code punishes teams for such actions and heavier consequences are handed out to clubs under surveillance. A reminder, AEL was under surveillance for last year’s Greek Cup final fan violence in Volos.
However, as anticipated, the club lodged an appeal and the Appeals Committee reduced the original sentence. AEK’s two match ban was reduced to one match (will be served against Atromitos), meaning the Kitronomavir will host PAOK on matchday 10 with fans. In addition, AEK’s 32,000 Euro fine was reduced to 24,000 Euros.
