Prolific striker Efthymis Koulouris was once again at the heart of the action, scoring twice for Atromitos to fire the Peristeri outfit past Aris in a match which was full of drama. After Mergim Mavraj missed a penalty for Aris at 0:1 down, Koulouris doubled Atromitos’ advantage, and despite four goals being scored between the 89th and 94th minute, the hosts held on to eventually win 4:2 and return to second place of the Super League table. Aris occupy sixth spot with 19 points.

In a bright start to proceedings, both teams had clear chances to score, and it was Atromitos who drew first blood after 16 minutes. Alone on the right flank, Emanuel Sakic had time to pick his spot, and his low shot was deflected into the net by an Aris defender.

11 minutes into the second half, Aris were gifted with a golden chance to level from the penalty spot after a tangle inside the box, however Mavraj was denied by a superb stop from goalkeeper Balazs Megyeri.

That miss proved crucial. Just three minutes later, Atromitos doubled their money, as an unmarked Koulouris was allowed to slot the ball in from point blank range.

Nevertheless, Aris weren’t prepared to go down without a fight, and right-back Dimitris Konstantinidis got them on the board on 89 minutes. His goal sparked an incredible passage of play. Koulouris grabbed his second after Julian Cuesta was caught out of position, Dimitris Diamantopoulos’ volley was deflected in by Spyros Risvanis, and Clarck N’Sikulu rounded off the match with a fourth for Atromitos in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
