2020 European Athletics Championships to not be held
The European Athletic Association announced that the 2020 European Athletics Championships in Paris will not take place, and will not be moved to an alternative date either.

The Championships, which were set to be the 25th edition of the event, would have been held from August 26-30 in Paris, France. However, it has now been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has caused the cancellation of numerous major international sporting events.
The main reason this event will not be rescheduled is that the 2021 athletics season already has so much going on, with the Tokyo Olympics also being postponed to 2021. Additionally, the European Athletics Indoor Championships are set to take place in March in Torun, Poland, and the World Athletics Indoor Championships (originally scheduled for 2020) will be held two weeks after that in Nanjing, China.
The next edition of the European Athletics Championships will take place in Munich, Germany, from August 11-21, 2022. This means that Germany will now host two European Athletics Championships in a row, having also hosted the last edition of this event in Berlin in 2018. There, Greek athletes won six medals (including three gold medals), marking Greece’s best performance at the competition since 2002.
