During the second half of the campaign, Olympiacos were superb in the Super League, notably winning all of their last 10 games after conceding a crucial 1:3 defeat to eventual champions PAOK in February. Overall, the Erythrolefki gained 75 points across the 30 matches, registering 24 victories, three draws and three losses. The winning streak of 10 matches was the largest witnessed in the 2018/2019 Super League season.

The last time when a Greek team tallied over 70 points and could only finish in second place of a 16-team championship was Olympiacos in the 2003/2004 campaign. In the 30 games, Olympiacos picked up 24 victories, three draws and three losses to boast 75 points, but arch-rivals Panathinaikos pipped them to the post with 77 points. In the 2002/2003 season, both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos collected 70 points each, but the Thrylos claimed top spot thanks to a superior head-to-head record and a better goal difference.

Olympiacos’ two losses to PAOK were decisive in the standings. At the Karaiskakis Stadium, Olympiacos dominated long proceedings of the battle against the Dikefalos tou Vorra, but after missing a plethora of opportunities, Jagos Vukovic contrived to score a clumsy own-goal to gift PAOK all three points. In the return fixture in Thessaloniki, PAOK were much the stronger team, overpowering Olympiacos to win 3:1 with goals from Vieirinha, Diego Biseswar and Chuba Akpom.

Nevertheless, Olympiacos can be content with at least returning to the UEFA Champions League after a one-year hiatus, with the Piraeus-based organisation due to begin their 2019/2020 European campaign in the second qualifying round in the summer.
