On Monday, AEK revealed that they had designed a special jersey dedicated to the fight against coronavirus, with the Athens-based club supporting the “Supporter of Each Other” campaign which has been founded in order to help overcome the COVID-19 crisis. The goal of this new campaign is to inspire people, players, fans, clubs, leagues, FAs, and all other organisations and companies to support each other.

AEK released this following statement:

“As a part of the effort to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus, AEK FC proceeded to design and market a special jersey. All funds raised from sales will be allocated to the relevant organisations which participate in the donation of medical supplies.

“The jersey with the name #WeFightCovid and the number 21 is available exclusively from the official e-shop of AEK FC.

“It was designed in collaboration with the team’ official kit supplier, Capelli Sport, and the support of the OPAP Offer Team.

“The shirt has been created using the team’s home jersey from the previous season, with the #WeFightCovid message and the number 21 on the back. It also has the logo of the #SupporterofEachOther project, which is an international campaign of the EFDN (European Football for Development Network). The organisation aims to raise awareness of all footballers in the battle to overcome the global crisis which has arisen because of COVID-19.

“The price of the jersey is €29.90, and you can immediately purchase it to contribute to its special purpose.”

The Supporter of Each Other organisation also commented on the release of the jersey:

AEK are now trying to produce more of the jerseys after the first batch was quickly sold out on Tuesday.

SCOCCO LINK

In other news, reports have been linking attacking midfielder, Ignacio Scocco, with an AEK return.

The 34-year-old previously played for the Kitrinomavri between 2008 and 2011.

At the moment, Scocco is on the books of River Plate in Argentina, but his contract is due to expire on June 30. According to reports, Newell’s Old Boys have offered Scocco a deal, however, there is a possibility that the attacker will move to Athens for the second time in his career. Media sources from Argentina have suggested that Scocco would like to play in Europe for one year before he returns to his home nation. Scocco reportedly wants to finish his playing days with Rosario.
