AEK Larnaca won big at home to Ethnikos Achnas by a score of 5-1 in Friday’s lone match. Truyols, Ivan Trickovski, Apostolos Giannou, Ivan Fiolic, and Carles Planas all scored for AEK, while Miguelito had the lone Ethnikos tally.

For now, AEK move into third place as Ethnikos fall to fifth place.

THE MATCH

AEK Larnaca hosted Ethnikos Achnas at the Giorgos Karapatakis AEK Arena in Larnaca. Mikel Gonzalez fouled Ibrahim Koneh in the box early, and a penalty was given for Ethnikos. Koneh had the chance to finish his own play, but he hit the crossbar. The ball stayed in play, and Miguelito got the first touch on it, but Tono Ramirez kept it out.

On the half hour mark, Ethnikos drew first blood. Giorgos Papageorgiou crossed in for Miguelito and he headed it past Ramirez, to make it 1-0.

Ethnikos almost took this lead into the half, but an AEK corner flipped the script, Lluis Sastre took the corner and Truyols nodded it past Martin Bogatinov for the equalizer.

Two minutes were added onto the first half, and in this stoppage time, it was a slide tackle of all things to set up a goal. Matija Spoljaric won the ball from a slide tackle, and the ball caromed to Ivan Trickovski who beat a surprised Bogatinov, and despite trailing after 44 minutes, AEK carried a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The second half was all AEK. In the 49th minute, Apostolos Giannou released a shot that somehow eluded Bogatinov and snuck past him, to make it 3-1. Bogatinov understandably was furious with himself, the ball went through both his arms and his legs.

Trickovski used his playmaking ability to extend the lead even further in the 55th minute, he found Ivan Fiolic who made it 4-1 for AEK.

The AEK onslaught was capped off in the 79th minute, when Konstantinos Anastasiou hit the post. The ball careened to Carles Planas, who despite struggling to corral the ball, giving time for Bogatinov to get back in position, still beat him to form the final scoreline, 5-1 in favor of AEK.
