Greece will be granted three representatives in next season’s Basketball Champions League, based on the teams’ finish in the 2018/19 Basket League season. With Panathinaikos and Olympiacos assured a place in the EuroLeague, the next best three teams are awarded a place in the Basketball Champions League.

With AEK, Promitheas, and Peristeri advancing to the semi-finals of the Basket League playoffs (Panathinaikos are the fourth team), these three clubs also assured a spot in next year’s Champions League.

AEK will surely accept their invitation to the Champions League while Promitheas, who had a successful run to the last 16 of the competition this past season, have expressed interest in competing in the EuroCup. This competition is organized by the EuroLeague as opposed to the Champions League, which is organized by FIBA.

Peristeri, however, have not decided if they will compete in Europe next season as balancing both Greece and Europe has its own challenges. If the Peristeri outfit do compete in Europe, they will choose the Champions League.

If any of the three decide to withdraw their place in the Champions League, the next best Greek team will take their place. In addition, Greece could be given a fourth representative as a wild card, however this will be decided by the BCL’s organizing body in the summer.
