On Wednesday, Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) president, Evangelos Grammenos, met with Greece coach, Michel Skibbe, and informed him that the two will part ways after a disappointing campaign in the UEFA Nations League. Although the two sides have yet to agree on a fee to break the German’s contract, which is through November 2019, Skibbe’s official sacking is expected to come as early as Thursday during the EPO’s Board of Directors meeting.

According to reports, Grammenos has decided on who will be Skibbe’s successor with the decision expected to be released on Thursday. It is clear that the new coach will be Greek with the current front-runners out of 10 possible names being Giannis Anastasiou, Michalis Grigoriou, and Angelos Anastasidis. At this point in time, the favorite is Anastasiadis who has been without a job since 2016 when he was with AE Larissa.

According to gazzetta.gr, Anastasiadis is expected to coach Greece during the final two matches in the UEFA Nations League and after that, a final decision will be made on who will lead Greece in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, which kick off in March 2019. The 65-year old boss could very well coach Greece through the qualifiers, however, that is yet to be determined.

All official developments are expected to be released on Thursday during the EPO Board of Directors meeting.
